If you look at the picture advertised with the Renegades, they look like standard Drow. There is absolutely nothing to hint at a remote possibility they're making Drow into 4th edition Dark Elves. It even advertises "like Drizzt.." and Drizzt is clearly a standard Drow.
The Menzo Renegades were exiled from Menzo, so I would assume they look like Menzo Drow.

If anything, I'd be more concerned that the "vanilla Drow" will be the surface elves, unless they are fine with the swarm of chaotic evil Drow rising to the surface to do heroic deeds for Neverwinter lol...

They probably don't care that much. People want to play Drow, so they'll be able to. MMOs ignore the implications of having such a huge population of adventurers compared to non-adventurers, to begin with. That a higher proportion of those adventurers are Drow than makes sense in the setting is a rather trivial concern in comparison.

02-27-2013, 06:53 PM #15Could you please look again at this picture next to the Menzoberanzan Renegade http://nw.perfectworld.com/founderspack/hero if you think they look like True Drow (and Drizzt by that token) Im slightly confused, I thought that True Drow had Black Skin and white hair (the ones that live/d in the underdark) the ones I feel we Heroes are getting are the ones that were Redeemed and freed from LLoth's grasp (the ones that became Black/blonde haired and light brown skin)If you look at the picture advertised with the Renegades, they look like standard Drow. 02-27-2013, 07:01 PM #16You worry and fret a bit overly much over a single image. You could also look at the image right below where a Drow sits atop the spider mount. Black skin and white hair. It is easy to start letting your imagination run rampant.Could you please look again at this picture next to the Menzoberanzan Renegade http://nw.perfectworld.com/founderspack/hero if you think they look like True Drow (and Drizzt by that token) Im slightly confused, I thought that True Drow had Black Skin and white hair (the ones that live/d in the underdark) the ones I feel we Heroes are getting are the ones that were Redeemed and freed from LLoth's grasp (the ones that became Black/blonde haired and light brown skin)
As for Drow GWF, you got one here. I don't care much for the min/maxing about it. I'll still cut things up like no tomorrow. In PVP as well no doubt.

02-27-2013, 08:38 PM #18If you look at pretty much EVERY picture of Drow in D&D handbooks, Forgotten Realms novels, games, etc. they pretty much all show Drow as having greyish-black skin or purplish looking skin. They like to describe them as "Obsidian skinned", but the only book/game I know of that has actually made them pitch black was Neverwinter Nights 2.Could you please look again at this picture next to the Menzoberanzan Renegade http://nw.perfectworld.com/founderspack/hero if you think they look like True Drow (and Drizzt by that token) Im slightly confused, I thought that True Drow had Black Skin and white hair (the ones that live/d in the underdark) the ones I feel we Heroes are getting are the ones that were Redeemed and freed from LLoth's grasp (the ones that became Black/blonde haired and light brown skin)
There also hasn't been a single hint or acknowledgement that there are so-called "redeemed drow" aka dark elves in this setting. If you want to get technical, they are comparing the menzo renegade to Drizzt, and he wasn't redeemed by Eilistraee's sacrifice; he retained the Drow features.
The artwork for Drow has changed so much over the years, and it really is based on who the artist is. I've seen Drizzt drawn on books with anywhere from light purple skin to dark brown skin.Last edited by heathenhammer9; 02-27-2013 at 08:49 PM.

You can see how Drow look in game in this video. http://youtu.be/aDtlkX9W0XU
Go to 18:00 and they start fighting Drow. Basically they are black skin, white hair. You should be able to change your skin and hair color to several different shades and colors on character creation.
