Hello,
I just bought the $199.99 pack. I hope I'm not going to regret it. Anyway, has there been any word on the sorcerer, specifically, the dragon sorcerer? The sorcerer is my favorite class in 3e and 4e, and my main character on the most popular Neverwinter Nights 2 server (Baldur's Gate: The Sword Coast Chronicles) is a human sorcerer.
Wizards are nice, but I prefer me some good old-fashioned self-taught magic. And with the dragon sorcerer, good old fashioned fire magic that can burn things made of fire.

I am not familiar with 4e and not yet familiar enough with this game. I was wondering, though, with what game footage I've seen if sorcerers would even really have a niche when wizards apparently can spam spells.

In 4th edition wizards and sorcerers have access to totally different spells. It's not like 3rd edition where they had the same spell list and the only difference between them was resource management.

This is correct and no information on its release.

Curiously, the Control Wizard has a feat tree called 'Sorcerer', which tends to diminish my hope that we'll see it as a class.

Yeah, I think if you are looking for a Sorcerer class you may be disappointed. The Sorcerer is an Arcane Striker and it looks like we are getting the Warlock. It would be hard to make a Sorcerer class which differentiated enough from the Warlock in terms of class mechanics. I realize that, in terms of lore and background, there is a world of difference between "I have dragon blood" and "I made a pact with Asmodeus," but in terms of system, this is harder to represent.
On the other hand, you will soon get an Infernal Warlock, and you can call him a Sorcerer, and no one will be able to tell the difference!
