I wish I could try out the game first b4 buying FP

I want to try out the game, but I have to spend money to see try out the game. If perhaps I didn't like the game, would I be able to receive a refund? There has been games in the past year, I've bought founders pack for, and now I regret it cause I don't even play the game anymore. It just fell off for me. I'll wait til after the beta weekends where I can play, til I decide if I'll buy a founder's pack... given that the pack will still be around in the near future.

Like you said, wait for open beta if you do not want to spend the money without first trying the game. I am almost certain the packs will be offered right up until launch, and perhaps even for a while afterwards.
